A 19-YEAR-OLD has received a five-month prison sentence for breaching his Asbo and various driving offences.
Mark Bevan, of Calverley Close, Beckenham, appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court last week.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching an Asbo, two charges of driving while disqualified and one count of driving without insurance.
Bevan was sentenced to four months on each count of driving while disqualified and four months on one charge of breaching his Asbo, to run concurrently.
He was given an additional month-long prison sentence for the second Asbo breach, to run consecutively.
Bevan also received six penalty points on his licence for driving without insurance.
A third Asbo breach was dropped by prosecutors, along with two counts of driving without an MOT.
Bevan was given the Asbo at Bromley Magistrates' Court on August 15, 2005.
It included conditions forbidding him from driving while disqualified and from being a passenger in a car unless it was being driven by a licensed driver.
He had been disqualified from driving by the same court on December 17, 2002, and had been given a 12-month driving ban on December 5 last year.
On December 26, police received a call from a resident saying Bevan was driving erratically around Calverley Close.
He and a passenger were pursued by officers from the Copers Cope Safer Neighbourhood Team before leaving the vehicle and fleeing.
Bevan was eventually arrested at his home on January 3.
He later appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody, ahead of further hearings.
He appeared at the court again via video link on January 10 and January 15.
Bevan remained in custody until his appearance at the court on February 12 where he entered his guilty pleas.
He and the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and were hospitalised.
Bevan was so badly injured he was not identified for some time.
The pedestrian, a 43-year-old man from Dyfed, Wales, was in hospital for two weeks with a fractured skull, a broken neck, a broken leg and multiple cuts.
The incident was investigated but no charges were brought.
