A former Deptford Air Raid Warden celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday.
Ellen Spooner, of Westmount Road in Eltham celebrated her 100th birthday in style at the Clarendon Hotel in Blackheath.
Ellen's daughter, Susan Brewer, said: "We had a brilliant afternoon tea for 12 people, it went really well and my Mum had an amazing afternoon, it was perfect really."
Ellen was joined by friends and family and staff at the Clarendon presented her with an ornamental rose bush.
She was also sent a birthday card from the Queen, congratulating her on reaching a century.
"She's quite good for her age she just always says that she could do with a new pair of legs but apart from that she's in good health."
Ellen has lived through two World Wars and served as an Air Raid Warden in Deptford during the Second World War.
