Fun Run at Christ Church Sidcup from 2pm on Saturday

The Fun Run.  One of the modern age’s most widely used oxymorons.  This is Christ Church Sidcup’s 6th annual fun run, so they must be doing something right.  Grownups and children alike turn up in optional fancy dress attire - this year’s theme is ‘Technicoloured’.  Runners will be raising money for chYps, a hospice charity for young people.  Last year they raised £1200 for them.  Good luck! The race leaves from the Horse and Groom in Main Road. Entry costs £5 adults, £3 under 16s. Go to christchurchsidcup.org.uk

Brockley Farmer’s Market at Lewisham College from 10am on Saturday

Elle UK called it a ‘cooler, mini version of Borough [Market]’, and Time Out gave it the ‘Locals Favourite’ award in 2014.  Accolades indeed for Brockley Market.

But don’t believe the hype - go and investigate for yourself.  If artisan cooking is your cup of tea, if gourmet soup floats your boat, if you think handmade scotch eggs are the bee’s knees (if you think cliches are over-used) then make your way down to Brockley Market this Saturday between 10am and 2pm.

There is talk of someone called Mother Flipper booked for this weekend…  I’ve heard two stories as to whether that’s a burger van or a dolphin.  Both sound plausible.  Come down on Saturday to find out. Go down to brockleymarket.com
