An Orpington woman defrauded Bromley Council out of more than £7,000.
Lysette Keen (aka Young), from Chipperfield Road, pleaded guilty on March 11 to fraudulently claiming housing benefit.
From November 2010 to September 2014 she dishonestly received £7,313.
She failed to declare she had a second job.
MORE TOP STORIES Keen was sentenced at Bromley Magistrates' Court to a 12 month community order requiring 100 hours of unpaid work and order to pay £85 in costs.
As well as having a criminal record she will have to pay back the amount in full.
Councillor Neil Reddin, chairman of Bromley’s audit committee, said: “We welcome this successful prosecution which arose from our observant staff referring this case for investigation.
“We have to ensure that public funds are safeguarded and only used for those in genuine need.”
