Paedophile pub landlord Billy Nutt has been jailed for four years after sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy in his Northfleet flat.

The gay 55-year-old, who once supported Dame Shirley Bassey on tour, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court this morning (March 20).

He will be put on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, and is prohibited from having any contact with a child under 16 without parental permission.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Anne-Marie McAteer said: "Nutt degraded and violated a defenceless child for his own gratification.

"Fortunately, the boy told his mother what had happened and we were able to bring Nutt to justice. Now he is in prison, where he belongs.

"We have specialised officers trained to tackle sexual abuse and will use every tool at our disposal to target those who take advantage of the most vulnerable.

"Victims will always be treated sensitively and with care and compassion.

"Our aim to ensure these offenders cannot abuse any more children."

Nutt, of Attlee Drive, Dartford, was a friend of the victim’s family for 35 years, and had told the boy’s parents he would take him out to McDonald’s and to the park.

The boy’s mother was horrified when her son returned and told her Nutt had touched him inappropriately and said “not to tell anyone, it’s our little secret”.

She told News Shopper: “He has destroyed our lives.

“He destroyed my relationship with my baby’s dad. He destroyed everything.”
