Two Bexley domestic violence charities will benefit from funding from the Mayor of London for the next two years.

The Mayor’s Crime Prevention Fund is providing £40,000 until 2017 for the Freedom Project, a 12-week scheme run by Bexley Women’s Aid for informing people about domestic violence.

The Domestic Abuse Partnership Project in Bexley will also benefit from £50,000 over the same time period.

In total, Boris Johnson has allocated £3.85m from the fund across the capital to organisations tackling domestic violence and violence against women and girls.

Last week he also announced a further £5m would be spent to support victims and boost convictions.
Charity Victim Support,’s director for London Jeff Gardner said: "From supporting thousands of victims of this crime in the capital, many of whom are children, we know how much courage it takes them to seek help.

"That's why it's critical that specialist help is there for them to turn to, to help them rebuild their lives and for them to get justice."
