A toddler is to visit her father in prison for the first and last time before being adopted after Bromley Council ordered a court ruling on her future.

The 16-month-old girl, who has not been identified, is the daughter of a 30-year-old woman with a history of prostitution and a 51-year-old convicted burglar currently in prison.

The meeting was approved by Judge Aileen Downey at Croydon Family Court after DNA tests proved he was the father.

The judge also ruled the toddler should be placed for adoption against the mother's wishes, who wanted to care for her.

After hearing evidence from social services Judge Downey concluded the woman would not be able to meet the needs of her daughter due to her own 'neediness'.

Her father is not seeking parental responsibility but wanted to meet his daughter, it is claimed.

The safety of the little girl while visiting the prison will be 'safeguarded' at all times by social services staff, after the Judge ruled the meeting should go ahead.
