Hundreds have descended onto Bromley with the giveaway of 1,000 free burritos.

Benito’s Hat is the latest addition to the town centre, with the new restaurant located in Market Square.

Celebrating their grand opening, the team at the Mexican inspired joint are handing out free burritos to the hungry of Bromley.

MORE TOP STORIES But the response has been phenomenal, with queues snaking around town today (March 3).

Caroline Dubarbier, who was on her lunch break, waited around 20 minutes for her free lunch.

The 29-year-old from near Hillcrest Road, she said: “I’m gluten intolerant so it was quite good to find something I could eat – that was the first thing I checked!

“It was really tasty, I had pulled pork but without the tortilla.

“The people told me I had come at quite a good time as after I got there the queue started going round the corner.”

There was a selection of achoite chicken, braised beef or pulled pork with a choice of rice, beans, sour cream salsa and guacamole on offer.

The free giveaway started at 12pm, and is due to end at 3pm.

Market manager Danielle Simpson said: “We’ve given away about 600 so far.

“We were a bit taken aback at how many people arrived at 12pm!”

Benito’s Hat officially opened on Friday (February 28).
