Greenwich has seen the biggest reduction in serious road casualties in all of London.
The recently released Annual Road Casualty Report shows that there was a 62% drop in the number of serious accidents and an overall reduction of 11% in total reported accidents.
All types of road casualties in the borough have decreased over recent years and Greenwich also has the lowest rate of serious accidents involving children in London.
Greenwich Council cabinet member for regeneration and transport, Danny Thorpe, said: "We strive to get these numbers as low as possible and in an ideal world would eliminate casualties on our roads altogether.
Coun Thorpe also said that the council will do everything to promote road safety including physical behaviour and influencing the behaviour of road users.
He added: "I'm really proud that the good work we're doing in this area is making our roads safer - and we will continue to strive to keep reducing the number of people who are sadly hurt on our roads in the borough."
