A couple have raised more than £5,000 for Darent Valley Hospital after its "guardian angel" doctors helped save their daughter’s life.
Ian and Cheryl East-Hickman felt indebted to the hospital after our paediatric consultants Dr Gautam Kulkarni and Dr Shahinul Khan treated their daughter Jocey.
The four-year-old was born with a rare condition - neuropathic intestinal pseudo obstruction - which affects her nervous system and various organs.
The the brave youngster has fought for her life on three occasions and eventually she will need several different organ transplants.
As a way of saying thank you the East-Hickman family, from Chalk, held many fundraising events including a coffee morning, a charity fun day and a quiz night – altogether they raised £5,050.
Last month Jocey, her sister Ellissia and Dad Ian presented a cheque to Dr Kulkarni and Dr Khan.
Cheryl, 37, said: "A lot of people did not believe that Jocey would live but these doctors listened to me and in my eyes saved Jocey’s life.
"They are her guardian angels.
"These two consultants truly cared about Jocey and our whole family."
