A man is recovering in hospital after being found with head injuries and wearing his boxers in Gravesend town centre.

The man, in his 40s, is now in a stable condition after being rushed to hospital yesterday morning (February 19).

Police are appealing for witnesses following the man, in his 40s, being found lying in the road at Miskin Way wearing only his boxers and a shirt.

Kent air ambulance was called at 4:30am to reports of an assault, but the victim was taken by road to Kings College London Hospital, which is a major trauma centre.

Police have been investigating the areas of Miskin Way, Mackenzie Way, Thistledown and Windmill Road.

They are working to establish the circumstances of the incident, and determine whether it is suspicious.

Detective Inspector Richard Woolley, who is overseeing the investigation, said: "We are appealing for anybody who may have seen this man in the area before he was found injured.

"At the moment, we cannot say with any certainty whether his injuries might have been caused by a road traffic collision, a fall, an assault or something entirely different, so I would ask anybody with even the smallest bit of information to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to call Kent police on 01634 792350, quoting incident reference 19-0106. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
