Gravesend Regatta Committee have announced that the town's 169th Town Regatta is happening in July.

The event is planned for 4-5 July, the same weekend as the Northfleet Carnival.

Like last year, shore entertainment will include a Fusion Festival, dog show and fairground rides.

The traditional four oared waterman skiff race and carnival will happen on Saturday 4, with a long distance race on Sunday 5.

There will also be 'come and have a try' sessions for any rowing novices.

Chairman Ian Stevenson said: "We are very happy to coincide with the Carnival once again.

"The fact that the parade will terminate at the Canal Basin area means people will have the opportunity to see the floats and come on to the Gordon Promenade to enjoy our racing and shore entertainment.

"We are also hoping to be able to announce something that will attract 'petrolheads' in the near future".
