Friends and colleagues of a young estate agent, who was killed in a Hayes car crash, have paid tribute to him.

Joseph Cable, 24, died after his X-Type Jaguar skidded onto its roof and smashed into a 50ft tree in Five Elms Road, just before 10.30pm last Tuesday evening (February 10).

Passing motorists and residents living in nearby houses tried in vain to pull the car upright to release the former Ravens Wood School pupil before emergency services arrived.

Mr Cable, who worked at Sinclair Hammelton Estate Agents in Bromley, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Estate agent director, Russell Sinclair, told News Shopper: "On Tuesday evening our colleague and friend Joseph Cable was tragically killed in a car accident.

"Joe was a pleasure to work with, he was kind, generous and he helped create a harmonious environment full of banter.

"He will be sadly missed by all of us. We have been inundated with messages from clients and colleagues offering their condolences.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family."

Mr Cable, who grew up in Bromley with his family, worked in the film and TV industry before becoming an estate agent four years ago.

Tearful friends left bright, colourful roses at the scene of the crash on Wednesday, in tribute to Mr Cable, who had also volunteered as a teacher at London museums.

One friend said: "He was a lovely guy. It’s a huge shock for everyone."

A neighbour, who joined the effort to rescue Mr Cable after his wife heard scraping metal followed by a huge thud, said: "I threw some clothes on as quickly as I could.

"When I got there, three or four men were all trying to move the car so the young man could be freed.

"It was just impossible. The car was smashed up against the tree upside down.

"People were shouting through the back window but there was no response. It’s terribly sad."

Mr Cable’s family ask anyone wishing to make memorial donations to contact Celia at Francis Chappell & Sons, Crofton Road, on 01689 853277.

His funeral will take place at St Giles Church, Farnborough on March 9 at 2pm followed by a wake held at the Change of Horses.
