A 24-year-old Gravesend woman has described the moment she was set-upon by a knife-wielding attacker, metres from her childhood home.

Kim Jordan, a fine arts student at Cardiff School of Art and Design, travelled to Gravesend on Friday (February 13) to spend Valentine's weekend with her partner and family.

The young woman told News Shopper of the harrowing moment when she was grabbed from behind by a man who thrust a knife in her face while she walked to her mum's house in Suffolk Road.

She said: "I was walking from the station when I saw three men in front of me - they were giving off a dodgy vibe - but I thought nothing of it.

"A man came up behind me and put his hand over my mouth, I screamed, but then I thought it might be my mum coming back from the shops, playing a trick on me.

"I turned to see who it was and he turned with me, we started to struggle."

The attacker then pushed Ms Jordan to the floor, kicking her in the head and ribs.

Ms Jordan added: "He didn't run off, he just walked away, really casually.

"That made me feel really stupid.

"He didn't take my things or grope me, I don't know why he did it."

Ms Jordan described the men as in their early twenties, having "medium to dark skin," English accents and being between 5’8"- 6’3" in height.

She said: "It was terrifying, he came up behind me so quietly.

"People have said, 'don't go walking around at night on your own' but it was 8.30pm, it wasn't late.

"You shouldn't be scared to walk to your mum's house."

The student has thanked a man who looked after her following the attack and all those who have sent messages of support on Facebook.

A police spokesman said officers were investigating reports of an assault and that inquiries were on-going.
