A popular out of-hours medical service in Greenwich has been saved following a "rewind" by Greenwich Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Grabadoc, who provide urgent care and out-of-hours medical services in Greenwich, have had their services extended after Greenwich CCG agreed to restart the tendering process for urgent care.

The CCG restarted the process due to a technical error and the threat of legal action from Grabadoc.

A joint statement from Grabadoc and Greenwich CCG read: "NHS Greenwich CCG has informed Grabadoc that they intend to rewind the procurement of the new model for urgent care and out of hours' services.

"They recognise that a technical error occurred during the process and that they will therefore issue a new invitation to negotiate.

"Both Grabadoc Healthcare Society LTD and Greenwich CCG want to focus on providing high quality, safe urgent care and out hours'' services for the people of Greenwich and coming to an agreement to stop the legal case and rewind the procurement allows this to happen."

Today's top stories:

The existing contract held by Grabadoc for out of hours' GP services has been extended for six months, with a break clause of three months.

Grabadoc and three other bidders will be able to submit revised bids for the new model of care for out of hours' treatment in Greenwich.

Eltham parliamentary candidate Spencer Drury raised issues about the process and the future of Grabadoc with the CCG.

He said: "This is excellent news - there is now a chance Grabadoc will be retained as the out of hours provider for Greenwich.

"Grabadoc is an excellent service and I hope that the new bidding process will take that into account."
