Skunkworks in Orpington was raided by police who seized a quantity of 'legal highs'.

Police and Bromley Council trading standards officers descended on the shop in Orpington High Street last Friday (February 13).

They seized a 'considerable' amount of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), otherwise known as legal highs.

The visit was part of an on-going investigation into the safety of NPS, and comes after a number of complaints of antisocial behaviour in the area.

Police had raised concerns about the number of young people found in possession of NPS, and medical emergencies arising as a result.

Trading standards and the police issued a warning to the business under new legislation to stop selling NPS.

This is in a bid to restrict young people having access to it.

Bromley deputy borough commander Superintendent Parm Sandhu said: "This sends a clear message to these types of establishments that we will not tolerate the issues they bring to our communities.

"The recreational use of NPS represents a danger to public health and can also render people vulnerable to becoming victims of crime and the Metropolitan Police Service strongly advice the public that these should not be experimented with.

"We will continue working with trading standards and the Local Authority to tackle this issue."

A suspected prohibited breed to Pit Bull Terrier was also seized by police.
