Two teenagers killed in a crash on a country road in Meopham last night (February 12) have been named locally as Charlie Carver and Joe Fitton.
Police were called to Harvel Road, near the junction with Whitepost Lane, at 7.10pm, after a silver Rover 25 crashed into a grey Skoda Superb travelling in the opposite direction.
Firefighters used specialist hydraulic equipment to free the injured, but the two men, both aged 18, in the Rover were both pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman in her 20s, also in the Rover, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Kings College Hospital.
A man in his 60s from the Skoda suffered minor injuries and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.
Sophie Lawrence, 17, who knew Charlie and Joe for five years, told News Shopper: "I woke up this morning and saw everyone was talking about what happened on Facebook.
"Both of them were really lovely, genuine people, neither had problems with anyone or caused fights.
"They just made people laugh.
"Neither were horrible to anyone. They both had loads of friends. Neither had anyone not like them."
A tribute left at the scene of the incident
Flowers and tributes have been left for the pair - who attended Wrotham School - at the scene of the incident.
One said: "RIP my Char. My first born and only son, I will miss you so much. See you soon! Love Dad."
Another said: "To our big boys, you will never be forgotten. Love you Char."
A number of tributes have also been left online, with friends expressing their shock at what has happened.
I'm in so much shock, taken way too young. My thoughts are with joe and Charlie's families today RIP xxx

Meanwhile people who live near the scene of the crash have commented on how dangerous the road is.
Anne Reed, 67, of Timber Bank said: "I didn't see anything but there's been people leaving tributes all morning.
"It is heartbreaking, they were very young.
"It's a fast road, too fast sometimes and the bend does make it hard to see."
65-year-old Chris Pearson, of Timber Bank, said: "We heard it was a fatality, it was very sad but you do get some people who drive too fast round there.
"It's always a problem on there, if you're coming from Wrotham and you turn in, there's a corner and you can't see cars coming the other way.
"It's dangerous."
Flowers left at the scene of the crash
Another resident, who did not want to be named, added: "We were coming in from a parents evening and we saw the blue lights and the road was blocked off.
"It is a fast road, I'm suprised an accident hasn't happened there before."
Officers from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit launched an investigation and the road was shut while the vehicles were recovered.
