Greenwich is the sixth most likely London borough to flood, new figures reveal.

Research by property consultants Groundsure revealed that 22,840 homes in the borough were at risk of being deluged.

Bexley ranks at number nine with 10,818 homes - almost one in five - at risk of being deluged.

And Lewisham comes in at number 10.

London's most at risk borough is Hammersmith and Fulham, where almost 60,000 homes are at risk.

Dan Montagnani, managing director of Groundsure, said: "It is essential that you consider the history of flooding in the area where you are thinking of buying a home - not just from rivers but also how the land and sewer systems have coped with sudden deluges.

"Insurance is essential but it can’t replace those precious photos or months of disruption while your home dries out."
