Movie fans may feel like they’re missing out when Sundance Film Festival doesn’t return to Greenwich this April, but there won’t be long to wait until the big one.
BFI London Film Festival is set to return in October for the 59th year at venues across the capital.
Last year, the festival had its biggest ever audience with 163,000 festival goers checking out what was on offer.
There were 18 world premieres, 9 international premieres and 35 European premieres with some of the year’s most celebrated films taking a bow.
The Imitation Game, Fury, Mr Turner, Foxcatcher and Birdman were among the marquee names and in total the 2014 festival programme contained seven BAFTA winners and 13 Oscar nominations.
There were 248 features shown on 20 screens across London in a packed programme and stars such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Timothy Spall, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon and Sienna Miller were all in town.
Submissions are now open for feature and short films, with deadlines in June.
