A street food venue is returning to Lewisham this spring - with an exciting new restaurant and bar area planned seven days a week just up the road.

Model Market was a massive hit when it opened at weekends on the old Lewisham High Street site last summer, offering a range of street food to thousands of hungry punters.

And not only is it coming back for an extended run, but organisers also plan to transform the Riverdale with a rooftop venue, restaurants and bars.

With all the deals still being ironed out, Jonathan Downey from organisers Street Feast was tight-lipped on the details but said the new permanent area will be open all week, is set to include two new restaurants "from well-established, serious operators" and "inject new life into a disused space".

He said: "We had such a brilliant reaction to Model Market. This is going to being an all week and year round, adding all the choice and quality and variety that Model Market offers.

"You don't have to wait until Friday night anymore."

Model Market, meanwhile, will run for 23 weekends from May 1, with a new area which, in a tongue-in-cheek reference to New York, has been called "the high line" - a roof terrace above the food units which can take around 50 people.

Mr Downey said: "It will be exactly the same as last time. There'll be a few different traders just to mix it up a bit but it will have the same vibe."
