Snow may or may not fall across Shopperland this weekend.

There, hopefully that clears up any confusion about the weather for this weekend.

I try hard not to get dragged into too many online arguments so I didn’t reply directly to grunpygravesend, bestbaz or whiterabbit9.

But, just so we’re clear (unlike the forecast) we’re in the business of reporting news and that’s what we do. So, if the Met Office issue a weather warning of any hue then we will report that fact.

Those of you who read my 5 Thoughts of the week will already be aware that I very recently wrote: “Have you noticed when it rains hard, the wind blows a bit or any snow falls we immediately get a weather warning?

"Now, I love weather forecasts, can’t get enough of them. But since when did we need a massive amber weather warning to know the wind might blow my fence panel down? We don’t need a warning every time”.

So, I’m in agreement with those of you who feel that there’s no need for a massive over-reaction every time we’re told the odd snow flake will fall.

But, with our current blame/claim culture schools, councils, businesses and a whole host of organisations feel they must react swiftly to such weather warnings or they will be held responsible for the slightest slip up.

As a result the great British public’s interest in all forms of weather continues to grow, hence the warnings, hence the news reports.

I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying it’s inevitable.

Whatever you’re doing this weekend, whatever the weather – sledging, making snowmen, watching the footies or just chilling out in front of the TV, enjoy it.
