He is one of the most exciting boxers on the planet and the son of one of the all-time greats yet somehow Chris Eubank Jnr has found himself on the comeback trail aged just 25.

Eubank is still smarting after a controversial points loss to undefeated middleweight Billy Joe Saunders robbed him of his unblemished record.

And that could be bad news for his opponent at Greenwich’s O2 on February 28, interim WBA World Champion Dmitry Chudinov.

The Brighton-based fighter told News Shopper: “I have it all to do in my next fight. It’s a minor setback for a major comeback.”

He added: “People know I’m the real deal and they’re just waiting for me to get back to winning ways and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Chudinov is also undefeated in his career to date so doesn’t represent an easy fight for the Englishman.

Eubank said: “It’s straight back in the deep end, no warm-up fights. We’re keeping it at the level we were at last time.

“From what I have seen, he is a tough, game, come-forward fighter. I think he is going to be willing to stand there and trade with me, unlike Saunders was. It’s going to make for an even more exciting fight than my last one.”

The big venue at the O2 is also something that excites the showman Eubank.

He said: “I have been to a few concerts and events there before. It’s going to be a great atmosphere, it’s a great place to fight.

“It’s a massive event so I’m expecting to create an atmosphere, as I did last time out.”

It will be an exciting night, but also important for the young fighter.

“Every fight is a must-win fight,” he said. “That’s how the game goes.

“Losing is not an option for me, even more so now that I do have a loss on my record.”

News Shopper:

If and when Eubank overcomes Chudinov, he has his sights firmly set on a rematch with Saunders and can only see it going one way.

“Even though I felt I did enough to win the fight, the cold hard truth is the loss on y record now. I will do anything and everything in my power to avenge that.”

As well as a rematch, Eubank is very much eyeing a middleweight world title shot, perhaps as early as the summer.

For now, though, he is leaving no stone unturned in pursuit of victory.

“It’s hardcore training six days a week,” he said. “You’re in the gym, running, sparring, doing strength and conditioning classes, eating right, going to sleep on time.”

One thing, Eubank admits he needs to improve in his training camps is sparring – he’s been having trouble finding partners of the right calibre.

Part of the problem is that he’s built up a fearsome reputation after going toe-to-toe in the gym with the likes of champions Floyd Mayweather Jnr and Carl Froch.

The former has said he believes Eubank will be a champ and footage of him troubling the latter in sparring went viral before the Froch-Groves fight (video below).

Eubank said: “You can’t buy that kind of  experience.

“You really do get to gauge where you are and who you are as a fighter when you share the ring with these kind of guys.

“It’s well documented that I held my own. That’s what you have to do. You have to take yourself out of your comfort zone when it comes to sparring.”

It’s for that reason Eubank has found partners hard to come by and has vowed to do whatever it takes to find them.

As a talented middleweight called Chris Eubank, he is destined to be compared to his father - one of the legends of the sport.

It is something that Eubank Jnr relishes. He maintains a close personal and professional relationship with his dad and has a similar style in the ring.

He said: “I will always be compared to my father. It’s natural.

“Obviously, it is a pressure. I take that pressure and turn it into a positive.

“I have a goal and all these expectations and all these people wanting and believing I can do it and be as good as or better than him.

“Also, I have the people on the opposite side who think I am never get close to where he was.

“I take all of that energy and I use it to train hard, fight hard and to push myself.

“I know I have all eyes on me so I have no choice but to get up in the morning and not skip any days. Everybody is watching when I get in that ring and I have so much to prove, so I use it to bolster myself.”

TOE-TO-TOE WITH CHRIS EUBANK JNR

Age: 25

From: Brighton

Weight: Middleweight

Record: 18 wins, 1 loss. (13 KOs)

Favourite Film: I’m a film fanatic. I watch films all the time and because of that I can’t really pick a favourite. I was actually at the cinema last night. I watch Exodus: God and Kings. It wasn’t great, unfortunately.

Favourite Rocky film: The original Rocky. With films especially, the first one is always the best. Unlike video games, where they manage to improve on it.

Favourite game: Right now, I’m playing a game called Destiny on Xbox One. It’s a good game. At the moment I’m waiting for Halo 5 to come out. I’m a big Halo fan. Halo 1, you can’t get better than that. I’ve got too many memories of that.

Favourite band: I can’t say a specific person. I like a lot of different genres. I would say I’m more of a hip hop/ R&B guy. At New Year’s, I was at a place called Marquee in Las Vegas and Drake was there. He’s a great artist.
