The Land Rover Freelander was found abandoned, having ploughed into a road sign on a traffic island between the two lanes.
A short time later its driver, Olsen, was stopped by two Bexley officers in Wendover Way, Welling.
One of the male officers suffered a gunshot wound to the hand from a revolver-style handgun fired by the defendant.
A weapon and ammunition were recovered at the scene.

He pleaded not guilty to two charges of making threats to kill and possessing a prohibited weapon. The prosecution offered no evidence to these charges.
Olsen has been remanded in custody before sentencing on March 20.
