Biggin Hill airport has stepped in to secure the future of St George's Chapel.
Located in the Main Road in Biggin Hill, the chapel faced closure after the Ministry of Defence (MoD) decided to pull funding.
Facing closure from March next year, Biggin Hill airport has offered to fund the £50,000 annual cost of keeping the chapel open.
In a public consultation recently undertaken by the airport, nearly 80% of 15,000 residents voted for its proposals.
These included preserving its historic connections, of which the chapel is one.
Airport managing director, Will Curtis, said: "We want to properly secure the future of this historic chapel which is in keeping with its role of playing an active part in the local community as an important heritage site.
"We will consult with the Ministry of Defence and the London Borough of Bromley as to how we can best achieve this goal."
