Police are out in force in Bromley as part of a borough wide traffic operation.

Targeting various roads across Bromley today, Christmas Eve, officers will be on the lookout for road safety issues.

The aim of the day is to ensure and educate motorists on road safety, but also to enforce the law where necessary.

The operation runs parallel to a month long anti-drink and drug driving campaign, which saw drivers breathalysed round the clock, in particular those who might be over the limit from the night before.

PS Lisa London, from Bromley police, said: "Christmas is a busy time of year and in the rush we are often distracted and forget to take our own and other people's safety into consideration when driving.

"Our officers will be helping to give out road safety advice and remind people to spare a thought for their own and others safety this Christmas."

Bromley Borough commander, Chris Hafford, added: “During the festive season people often get caught up in the rush of Christmas shopping and socialising, and neglect to think about their own and other road user's safety when driving.”
