Flames raged for more than three hours across 50 bales of straw in Dartford last night (Dec 21).

Firefighters were called to the incident in Hawley Road, Wilmington, at around 9.30pm as plumes of smoke could be seen from both carriageways of the A2.

The crews from Kent Fire and Rescue used hose reels and a hydrant until shortly around 1am when the flames had been put out.

Firefighters are visiting the area this morning to asses the damage.
