Greenwich youngsters have made headlines for all the right reasons.
The borough's primary schools' successes have been underlined this month in the latest government figures for performances by 11-year-olds in national assessments.
Current national targets for schools are to have at least 65 per cent of pupils reaching the expected level for 11-year-olds in reading, maths and writing.
Not only are the Greenwich schools meeting expectations, they are in the top 10 for local authorities with the best combined achievement.
Nine Greenwich schools also finished in the Sunday Times table of Top 500 State Primary Schools. Only two other boroughs in London had more schools in the top ten.
The council’s cabinet member for children’s services Councillor John Fahy said: "These figures are just the latest confirmation of the excellent work that is taking place in our primary schools."
