A care service in Bromley beat off national competition to scoop a prestigious award.

St Christopher's Bromley was bestowed the Innovation in Care award for its Bromley Care Coordination service.

The service, based at Caritas House in Orpington, aims to help people thought to be in the last year of their life to die with dignity.

Commissioned by Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the service won the accolade at the Hospice UK Awards, now in its fourth year.

Jan Noble, St Christopher’s care coordination project leader, said: "We were thrilled to win this award. Our nursing and admin team has worked hard over the past year.

"Funding from Bromley Clinical Commission Group has ensured a truly a coordinated service for the residents of Bromley."

Andrew Parson, clinical chair of Bromley CCG, said: "We are very proud of St Christopher’s Bromley Care Coordination Service.

"This service means people in Bromley who are at the end of their lives have a much better experience of care in their final days."

The award was presented at a ceremony in Leeds on November 25.
