Mentally ill Thamesmead killer, Daha Mohamed, has died whilst detained at the Bracton Centre in Dartford.
Mohamed, aged 52, died on February 24, just a month after he was detained at the centre under the Mental Health Act, it has emerged.
The detention order was made at the Old Bailey on January 29 after Mohamed, of Abbotts Road pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of neighbour, Colin Greenway in June 2012.
The court heard that the wheel-chair bound 55-year-old had been battered, hit around the head with a flower pot and had his throat cut with a ten-inch carving knife.
Mohamed denied murder on grounds of diminished responsibility as he had not been taking his bi-polar medication around the time of the attack.
Consultant psychiatrist Rachel Daly, from Oxleas NHS Trust, told the court at the time of the killing, Mohamed was suffering from a schizophrenic psychosis and was not able to form a rational judgement or exercise self-control.
Details of Mohamed's death are not yet known.
A pre-inquest hearing is due to be held at Gravesend Old Town Hall on December 10.
