Preparations are under way at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School to mark the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta next year.
Bexley Mayor Councillor Howard Marriner unveiled two framed and illustrated handwritten copies of the Magna Carta at the school last Tuesday.
The facsimiles, one in Latin and one in English, will be on display at the school on Hurst Road in Sidcup leading up to the anniversary on June 15 next year.
Professional calligraphers Mark Bhogun-Scott and Warren Cruickshank undertook the mammoth task of creating the replicas.
The men, of local company WarshankBhogunScott, are producing limited edition commemorative parchments, calendars and books to mark the anniversary.
The Magna Carta famously outlined basic rights with the principle that no-one was above the law, including the king.
Deputy headteacher Joanne King said: “History and Latin students who attended the event were delighted to see history come alive in such a unique way."
