Dartford mum speaks out about horror crash that almost killed her 21-year-old son

Donna Wilson, aged 40, of Baker Crescent has released shocking pictures of the car her son, Jordan Wilson, was travelling in after the devastating accident.

The father-of-two moved from Dartford to help his grandmother run a pet shop in Llanarth near Aberaeron four years ago and was a passenger in a car, driven by his fiancées brother, Jason Jarrams, when it came off the road on June 22.

Mr Wilson was left with a broken back and a swelling on the brain.

Paramedics from the Wales Air Ambulance transported Mr Wilson to Cardiff University Hospital where the family were told to prepare for the worst.

Mr Wilson's mum said: "I remember calling my mum at 5.15pm to ask if he was still with her and she said, 'you have to sit down.'

"I can't remember how I got to Wales, in those situations your brain goes into sensible mode but it all seems so surreal."

Doctors at Cardiff hospital had to resuscitate Mr Wilson before inducing him in to a coma in an attempt to help him survive.

Mrs Wilson added: "When we saw him with he was in an awful way, with his face hanging off on the right side, laid out on a stretcher asleep with tubes coming out of him and helping him to breathe.

"He was on a breathing machine and was put into a coma because of the head injury and the swelling he had on his brain.

"He suffered a broken back and four broken ribs as well as the numerous cuts and bruises.We were told things could change every minute.

"They put him into a coma and we were told he might not be the same when he woke up - at one point he lost his life and they had to revive him."

In July, Mr Wilson and his mum were given the chance to meet the crew from the Wales Air Ambulance who saved the crash victim's life, and were told that when they arrived on the scene paramedics 'didn't think he'd make it.'

And earlier this month Mr Wilson and Mr Jarrams were given the chance to see the car after investigations showed that Mr Jarrams had been travelling within a 60mph speed limit before the accident.

Mrs Wilson added: "To see the pictures just makes me so emotional - the fact that my son was in there and survived."

Mr Wilson's family have since been raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance and to date have raised £1,029.
