Bromley town centre is in full bloom to commemorate the centenary of World War I.

Across the town more than 1,000 giant poppies have adorned lamp posts and trees as Remembrance Sunday, on November 9, draws nearer.

Marking the end of the conflict in 1918, which claimed more than 9 million lives, the poppies are decorating the town centre for the fifth consecutive year.

As part of the fundraising campaign for the Poppy Appeal, collection points are stationed around the town.

Councillor Colin Smith, Deputy Leader of Bromley council, said: "The overwhelming support for the appeal from our residents and visitors over the last four years has been inspiring.

"We are honoured to continue showing our support for such a worthy cause in a visible way, helping to ensure that these heroes and their families are never forgotten.

"This is particularly poignant this year, on the 100 year anniversary of World War One, which we commemorate in solemn respect."

The collection points are in the Churchill Theatre and Central Library, both in the High Street, and at various shops.
