Responsible for more hits than you can shake a stick at, The Manfreds are heading for Dartford with both of their legendary lead singers in tow.

Between them, the band who formed as Manfred Mann have had 14 top 10 hits and three number ones as a band, as solo artists and subsequent groups.

Original members Paul Jones, Mike Hugg, Tom McGuinness, Rob Townsend, Marcus Cliffe and Simon Currie will be joined by former member Mike d’Abo for the show on Sunday, November 16, at the Orchard Theatre.

Manfred Mann formed in 1962 and had their first top 10, 5-4-3-2-1 two years later, followed by the likes of Do Way Diddy Diddy, Sha La La and Pretty Flamingo.

Lead singer Paul Jones left to pursue a solo career in 1966 and had several big hits before forming his own Blues Band and becoming an influential radio broadcaster.

He was replaced in the band by Mike d’Abo and the group had big European hits with Ha Ha Said The Clown, Mighty Quinn, Fox on the Run and My Name Is Jack.

They disbanded in 1969 but the hits didn’t stop there.

Tom McGuinness formed McGuinness Flint with drummer Hughie Flint, Mike Hugg wrote hundreds of jingles, including the themes to Up the Junction and The Likely Lads.

Mike d’Abo wrote some big hits like Handbags and Gladrags (recorded by Chris Farlowe, Rod Stewart and the Stereophonics) and Build Me Up Buttercup (The Foundations) as well as major soundtracks and jingles.

They reformed as The Manfreds in 1991.
