Vandals branded "as low as you can get" trashed an ambulance owned by a Dartford animal rescue charity.

The incident, in Rochester last Tuesday (October 14), saw windows smashed, seat belts cut and property stolen, and will cost Artisan Rare Breeds, who operate across Kent, thousands of pounds.

Director Wayne May told News Shopper a medical box was stolen, containing items including bandages, antiseptic cream and powders, wormers and spare horse and dog collars, costing £752.

He added the damage to vehicle will cost £572.

He said: "I think whoever did this are about as low as you can go. Artisan rare breeds and animal rescue are devastated.

"The costs of repairs are equivalent to eight weeks fundraising which is a considerable blow to us.

"The ambulance will be put of action as a fully operational ambulance for seven to 10 days. It's is normally operational 24 hours a day every day of the year, rescuing sick injured and unwanted animals.

"Our normal day will see us rescuing animals from deer and badgers to domestic pets like cats dogs and especially reptiles."
