A passenger left seriously injured in a road crash in Woolwich has resulted in a police appeal for further information.
Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Peugeot which were travelling in opposite directions on Academy Road at 11.57pm on Friday.
The London Ambulance Service attended the scene and three people were treated for injuries including one 36-year-old man who was taken to an east London hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
The Peugeot driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was taken to a south London police station and has since been bailed until November pending further enquiries.
Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Catford are leading the investigation and appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, of the events leading up to the collision, to contact them on 0208 285 1574.
