A whopping 34 teams of contractors and staff from a housing developer took part in an annual five-a-side football tournament raising £48,072 for an Eltham hospice charity.
Money raised by Berkeley Homes will go to Demelza, which provides care for terminally-ill children across the area and runs a hospice in Wensley Close.
The tournament took place at the Powerleague Wembley pitches on Friday. After hours of competitive football, the McGinley team were presented with the winning trophy following a penalty shoot out against their opponents Houston Cox.
Chief executive of Demelza Steve Hoy said: "Both the money raised and the time spent volunteering throughout the year is incredibly valuable to Demelza."
Berkeley divisional managing director Karl Whiteman added: "For us the highlight of the event was being able to hand over £48,000 to a charity that does remarkable work with children and families affected by life-threatening conditions, and we’re looking forward to continuing this partnership."
