A teenager arrested in connection with the death of a pedestrian in an alleged Abbey Wood hit-and-run, has had his bail extended.

The 17-year-old boy was detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after Brenda Croke, 64, was mown down and killed by a black Range Rover in Finchale Road on June 19.

The suspect was bailed until September 22 pending enquiries into the incident, which happened at around 11am at the roundabout with Eynsham Drive.

Police have now extended their investigation until early November, when a decision is expected to be made on whether to charge the suspect.

After the crash he allegedly fled the vehicle, which did not have number plates.

Ms Croke of North Stifford, Grays, Essex, died from multiple injuries.

The incident is being investigated by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
