A former transatlantic sailor is kayaking 205 miles to Gravesend to raise money for the RNLI.

Hannah White set off from Portishead near Bristol on September 20 and is hoping to reach her goal on Thursday (September 25).

She is travelling light, with just her kayak, sleeping bag and drinking water to keep her company along the canals and rivers, and is relying on the public to provide her with meals and places to stay along the way.

Hannah first gained renown as an offshore sailor and has sailed the Atlantic solo three times.

She then went into broadcasting and was part of the presenting team for the London 2012 Olympics.

She said: "Since announcing the challenge I have had an incredible amount of support, from the offer of fish and chips along the way to a stay in an army barracks over night.

"I have been overwhelmed by the kindness of the public and hope this challenge raises vital funds for The RNLI."
