A coach driver who admitted possessing cannabis after a passenger reported him for allegedly smoking the drug before taking the wheel will be sentenced next month.

Azad Ali Malik, 42, was arrested at Hall Place in Bexley on November 10 last year after driving a tour coach with 79 passengers all the way from Skegness - a 150-mile journey which takes around three hours.

At Inner London Crown Court on June 20 Malik admitted one charge of possessing cannabis, but pleaded not guilty to driving while unfit through drugs.

Malik was due to be sentenced on September 19 at the same court but failed to appear before the judge after flying to Pakistan to bring his sick mother back to England.

The case was adjourned until October 31 when Malik will be sentenced at Inner London Crown Court.
