A Plumstead man who was diagnosed with breast cancer has visited Wembley to help launch a charity campaign.

Doug Harper, 52, of Plum Lane, visited the national stadium with fellow breast cancer sufferer Sky presenter Jacquie Beltrao, to launch The Football Association and Breast Cancer Care’s official charity partnership.

They marked a new campaign called Pass It On which will urge people across the country to pass life-saving breast health awareness messages to the women in their lives.

Mr Harper said: "Having breast cancer was hard. My treatment meant I had to miss a lot of the things I love including gigs and football matches but ultimately my diagnosis meant I had the treatment I needed to help me face breast cancer.

"Now I want to raise awareness so that everyone - male or female - remembers to be breast aware."
