Each week I share my five thoughts of the week – the good, the bad and the ugly.

But, I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say, so write to me using the details below.

1. Is it time for a rethink on voting ages? On Thursday 16-year-olds will have their say in Scotland and I think it’s a good thing, the young are, after all, our future. But, perhaps we need to redress the balance and look at the upper limit. With an ever-aging population should there be a cut-off point for older voters?

2. I am a strong believer in animal rights. It’s not that I don’t eat meat, I do and a fair amount of it. I just believe animals should be treated properly. The same goes for animals in circuses, but as long as they’re treated properly that’s fine. And for me, a circus without animals isn’t really a circus at all.

3. I wonder how long it will be before smoking in the street is banned? Walk past a station entrance or even the front of some offices in town and you will be forced to walk through clouds of smoke. It doesn’t bother me that much, but others hate it.

4. Interesting discussion divided the newsroom this week. Can women be legally charged and convicted for indecent exposure? Some said yes, others said if they strip off or streak then they have to be charged with another offence such as disturbing the peace.

5. Football golf, a relatively new phenomenon, looks great fun. Apparently it’s burgeoning – I shall have to have a go myself.
