A Hayes actor has launched a crowd-funding campaign to raise £300,000 to film a horror movie set in Bromley.
Demetri Turin, of Boughton Avenue, has written an 80s-inspired thriller set in the borough, which he hopes to start filming at the end of this year.
Mr Turin, 50, plans to shoot the small-budget film, Dead No More, in the Cudham village and at the Holy Trinity Church in Bromley Common.
He told News Shopper: “I grew up around Bromley and I always used to go for long walks all around the area.
“Why would I go into central London and build a set for the film there when there’s so many spooky places around here that I can use in the film? I want to bring British horror back to the UK cinema and onto the big screen.”
So far, Mr Turin has raised £145 of his £300,000 target.
The film is set in a crematorium and features a father, son and his girlfriend who fight demons with motorbikes and swords.
Local Bromley rock band, Dogstand will record a soundtrack to the movie.
Former tap dancer, Mr Turin, who has been taking acting classes for four years, has already shot a trailer for the film at the Holy Trinity Church.
“The teaser trailer is an example of what we can do with no money at all. We need the money because we need to put a big name into the film to attract the audiences.
“People can donate as little as £2.00 or they can invest. I’d like to start filming this year but it depends how quickly we raise the money.”
Mr Turin said he would like someone like Gary Oldman to play the lead role in the film but otherwise would be looking for a soap actor or actress.
Anyone that invests also has the opportunity to play an extra in the film.
He said he will be holding a competition for the movie’s lead female role.
