A 26-year-old Sydenham man has appeared in court charged with murdering a young dad who had just brought his baby boy home from nursery.

Jordan Glasgow was arrested last Thursday, two days after Adrian Young was stabbed to death.

Mr Young was found at the corner of Whitehorse Road and Cromwell Road,Thornton Heath, at about 4.45pm last Tuesday (August 26) after reports of a fight.

The 24-year-old died in hospital two hours later.

Mr Glasgow, from Silverdale, appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court on Saturday to answer the murder charge.

He has been remanded in custody and is next due at the Old Bailey on September 12.

A plea and case management hearing is set to take place on November 18.

Floral tributes have been left outside the house of Mr Young’s girlfriend Lisa Stanley, in Cromwell Road.

One of them, which has been left by his brother Krishawn, reads: “Cousin, brother, father, RIP Cuzzy, you will forever be in my heart and mind for ever and ever and those who went against you shall be truly punished in the house of the Lord.”

Shopkeeper Abdelsamed Abdelrahman, who also is known as Sam, and manages the nearby Spar store, had known Mr Young for about 20 years and was shocked when he was told what had happened.

Mr Abdelrahman said: “His girlfriend’s mother came in and she told me that he was dead.

“I always saw him hanging around the area [when he was growing up] and he used to come in here with his girlfriend. He would come in and say hello and he came in here the day before [he was killed] and said to me, ‘Sam, how are you?’.

“I’m surprised and very sad that this has happened.”

A postmortem examination held at St George’s Hospital mortuary last Wednesday, August 27, gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
