A car has overturned in Sidcup - injuring a 57-year-old man.

The accident happened at 1.50pm yesterday (September 2) on Cray Road opposite the Beck Evans used car garage when a blue Volkswagen reportedly hit a red Vauxhall Corsa which was parked at the side of the road.

The Volkswagen flipped onto its side.

Eye-witness, Lorna McCarthy, aged 41, who lives in Sidcup Hill, was driving on the opposite side of the road when the accident happened.

She said: "I was driving towards the Volkswagen which was going around 30 miles per hour when it hit into the red car.

"The Volkswagen flipped onto its side - I had to brake and all I could think was, 'is it going to keep rolling into me.'

"The car was leaking water but my first thought was that it might be petrol.

"I got out and the driver of the Volkswagen gave me a thumbs-up - he had cut his elbow and the driver of the Corsa had cut his head quite badly.

"It was the scariest thing I have ever seen - I've never seen a car roll before."

Residents of Cray Road have voiced concerns that today's incident was 'an accident waiting to happen.'

Simon Gregory, aged 49, of Middleton Avenue, whose mother lives opposite the scene of the crash, said that due to people parking on the yellow lines outside of the used car garage blocking driver's view around a bend.

He said: "People park on the yellow lines or sometimes with two or four wheels on the pavement.

"It makes it impossible for drivers to see and impossible to cross the road.

"My mother is 76-years-old and has lived in the house for 36 years and now she's too scared to cross the road outside of her own house."

A Met Police spokesman said: "The 57-year-old driver of the parked vehicle, who was in the vehicle at the time, was treated for a minor head injury.

"The 53-year-old driver of the vehicle that overturned was uninjured."

No arrests were made in relation to the accident.

I'm very confused now! I'm sure that they'll update the article and you'll wonder what I'm on about! However, yesterday there was a car flipped in Foots Cray Lane and that's what the picture is of. However, the article says that today a car flipped on Foots Cray Road which doesn't even exist!

They mention a garage which is actually on Cray Road. I think they've got two different incidents and combined them. Very sloppy reporting!

And reports say a blue VW hit a red (parked) Corsa

There is no sign of a red car & the one on it's roof looks silver to me

Also where is the "blind bend"?

Forensics says...

You can't put this down to bad parking or blind bends.
This should be put down to bad driving.
Most roads have vehicles parked by the roadside and if the gap isn't wide enough for two cars to pass then one of them normally gives way.
If you go into a corner and can't see the road is clear then this will happen.
If you are going slowly then the worst that will happen is a few dented panels but to flip the car on its roof and skid so far suggests too much speed and not enough attention.

Can you confirm anything given that this shockingly poor piece of journalism abjectly fails to provide any trustworthy information - it is riddled with contradictions! All we can deduce is that somewhere an accident occurred involving a car!

Glad your niece is OK, so who was in her car (report the driver cut HIS head)?

This picture is of an accident in Foots Cray Lane that happened on 1st September where a Silver Seat Ibiza crashed into a legally parked Ford Fiesta which belonged to my daughter.
The story is obviously of another accident which itself is full of inconsistencies.
As PaulErith says very sloppy reporting from News Shopper.
