The Mayor of Bexley battled with torrential rain to attend a fun day at a riding stables.

The event in Vicarage Road, Bexley, helped raise more than £1,500 for the RNLI and Belvedere-based charity The Archway Project.

Directors of the Mount Mascal Stables Alison Window and her father John packed the event with competitions, stalls and games to keep visitors entertained.

It was the sixth annual charity family fun day at the stables and the organisers were pleased by the turnout, despite the rain. Bexley Mayor Councillor Howard Marriner and his wife  Dianne also popped in to lend support.

Ms Window said: "We are very proud our team made a great day possible in spite of very wet conditions on the day.

"We would like to thank everyone for attending and our generous sponsors, stallholders and volunteers for their time, support and generosity. We will hold it on the same bank holiday next year."
