Kidbrooke residents will once again be served by the B16 bus next month following a successful trial today.
The service will also travel along Tudway Road to the junction with Elford Close after serving Moorehead Way.
Towards Bexleyheath, buses will travel via Elford Close, Ryan Close and Tudway Road to Kidbrooke Park Road, followed by Moorhead Way.
The changes follow a consultation held this spring with local residents, service-users and stakeholders with the majority of locals supporting the new proposed route.
The service will allow bus users to have easy access to the village centre at Kidbrooke, which includes a Sainsbury’s, doctors’ surgery, dentist and pharmacy after summer has seen Berkeley Homes working on a number of road improvements to accommodate the new route.
Karl Whiteman, Divisional Chairman at Berkeley Homes, said: “Having listened to what local residents and their representatives told us about the importance of this route, we’ve worked hard with Transport for London and the Royal Borough of Greenwich to bring the B16 back on the roads within our control.
"The reinstated service will be integral to connecting Kidbrooke Village and the wider community. We will continue to work with Royal Borough of Greenwich to lobby for the reinstatement of the 178 on the new route and also for the introduction of new bus services linking Kidbrooke Village to North Greenwich.”
