A teenage Crockenhill horse rider is celebrating after becoming the youngest ever winner of a national side saddle competition.

Morgan Schive, 19, and her horse Nightwatchman rode to glory at the National Side Saddle Championships at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire.

Morgan, of Stones Cross Road, Crockenhill, is the adult competition’s youngest ever champion after finishing third last year.

Contestants score points for dressage, show jumping and the turnout and appearance of them and their horse.

Morgan had to come through a tense ride-off against three other competitors to win the trophy over the weekend of August 2.

The former Hadlow College student told News Shopper: "I was really shocked at the time and I didn’t expect to get it in my second year.

"It’s the peak of my side saddle career and it’s really early for me to win it.

"I’m now hoping to become a riding instructor."
