Ms Fingleton directed and produced her film Waiting for You whilst studying at Goldsmiths between 2012 and 2013. The film is an intimate and brave documentary spanning five years of her journey through the rollercoaster world of fertility.

She said: "I am really touched by the reaction to the film. At every screening the audience are laughing and crying at the same time. So many people come up to us afterwards and thank us for making the film."

Danish documentary-maker Ms Fischer, who studied the MA in Screen Documentary between 2011 and 2013, is nominated for her film I’m Lonely Down Here, Elvis.

News Shopper:

The film is billed as an impressionistic portrait of a tender man, a boyish performer, and a charismatic ex-punk musician caught in the past.

Meanwhile, Mr Harris’s documentary, You’ve Done Enough: the War and Peace of Tom Adlam VC, tells the story of a veteran of the Battle of the Somme, teacher and father.

He said: "I am interested in approaching history on a more focused, personal level - learning about wider narratives and events through the experiences and emotions of individuals who were there."

The Grierson Awards celebrate documentaries that have made a significant contribution to the genre and that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and overall excellence.
