Staff and patients at a Dartford Hospital have produced a cookbook of delicious recipes after radically changing their lifestyles earlier this month.

The scheme at BMI Fawkham Manor Hospital in Manor Lane, Longfield also included health assessments and workshops on exercising at work and home.

A more nutritious menu was developed for the restaurant and staff held a slim line bake sale helping to deliver on the hospital’s Big Health Pledge.

This incentive encourages people to make small changes that will make a big difference to their health and wellbeing. It targets the UK’s biggest preventable killers and offers help on getting into shape.

A cookbook was created to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and is now on sale at the hospital as well as charity's shops throughout the country.

BMI Fawkham Manor Hospital executive director Valerie Power said: "The Big Health Pledge will hopefully get people thinking about how they could eat healthier, be more active, quit smoking, drink less alcohol and be more health aware - all steps to a healthier, happier life."
