A Thamesmead drug dealer caught with heroin between his buttocks has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Daniel Perkins, 32, would travel from his home in Mangold Way to Wiltshire to make deals.

He was arrested on April 18, 2012, at an address in Chippenham having spent the previous three months travelling between the capital and the south west to sell drugs.

When officers searched him they found five wraps of heroin wedged between his buttocks.

Perkins skipped bail before finally being brought before a judge at Swindon Crown Court on Friday (August 1).

His phone was examined and found to contain numerous text messages relating to drug dealing.

Prosecutor Colin Meeke told an earlier hearing it contained incoming questions like “Have you got?”, “Will you do for 35?” and “I need two of each”.

Perkins initially denied the phone was his, despite it being registered in his name and to his address.

Mitigating, Chris Smyth said his client insisted the dealing was “sporadic” over the three months leading up to his arrest.

After admitting possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply, Perkins was jailed for two-and-a-half years and ordered to pay a £100 victim surcharge.
